2025 StudentCPT Leadership Conference Recap

The 2025 StudentCPT Leadership Conference (SLC) was held June 23-25 in Philadelphia, PA, in conjunction with the NASBA Eastern Regional Meeting. The conference attracted 59 students from 26 institutions and offered opportunities for the attendees to network, debate and showcase their ethical leadership.

Student participants ranged in age, areas of study and academic classification and were sponsored to attend by funds raised via the 2025 NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) Golf Classic. They participated in several teambuilding and ethics-based exercises such as tower building, a Red Flag Mania course, and a debate assignment. Attendees heard from keynote speaker Jerry Maginnis, CPA, a retired KPMG partner, and had the opportunity to meet with him for a book signing. They also sat in on sessions featuring CPT board member Jenn Bouchard and NASBA President and CEO Daniel J. Dustin, CPA.

One of the most valuable experiences the SLC offers students is the opportunity to network with NASBA membership and staff. Students were invited to attend both a welcome on reception and luncheon to connect with NASBA Board members and State Board of Accountancy representatives. Many meaningful connections were made that will help lay the foundation for these young professionals and their careers.

The 2025 StudentCPT Leadership Conference was well-received by students as they provided the CPT with positive feedback following the event. The CPT’s goal of empowering ethical leaders was achieved and is sure to make a lasting impact on the lives of this year’s SLC participants.
