Looking Back on Ethics in Action Video Competition

As the 2024 Ethics in Action Video Competition closes, let’s look back at some of the past Commercial and Short film category winners over the years.

The Commercial Category winner from 2016 illustrated a strong message that is still relevant to the CPT today.

2016 Commercial Category Winners (1 Minute or Less)

1st Place Grand Prize: The Motherhood Penalty

School: Utah State University

In 2017, Maryville University took the gold for the Short Film Category.

1st Place Grand Prize: Betty’s Call

In 2018, the University of Northern Colorado submitted a video with a fun spin on what ethical dilemmas are and how to overcome them in different aspects of life.

1st Place Grand Prize: Giving Voice to Values Video (GVV Video)

School: University of Northern Colorado

Tennessee Tech got creative in 2019, winning with their “Fake It Until You Make It…Or Until You Get Caught” submission.

 University of Colorado, Colorado Springs brought an incredibly original submission in 2020 with a fun spin on ethics and how to identify and navigate dilemmas.

In 2021, Loyola University shot their video in New Orleans and demonstrated an ethical dilemma that couldhappen to anyone.

2021 Short Film Category Grand Prize – Judge’s Pick

1st Place: New Orleans Ethical Dilemma at a Crawfish Boil

School: Loyola University

Maryville University’s submission in 2022 showed professionalism and dedication to a ”big” dilemma that still lingers today.

Texas State University showed up in 2023 with many submissions that touched different aspects of ethics and how it is found in daily life.
