Alyssa Gallas

Alyssa Gallas serves as the Executive Assistant to Alfonzo Alexander, the president of NASBA’s Center for the Public Trust (CPT).

Before joining the CPT, Gallas spent seven years abroad working and studying.  She first worked as an English language teaching assistant in Rouen, France, through the Teaching Assistantship Program in France (TAPIF). She served two years in TAPIF where she created class lessons, mentored students and acted as a cultural representation of the United States in France. She later moved to Edinburgh, United Kingdom, to pursue her Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh in Mind, Language, and Embodied Cognition. Her primary focus of study was the relationship between early childhood trauma and perceived societal power.

During the pandemic, Gallas took on the General Manager role for Nice Times Bakery based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. To this role, she also added Wholesale Manager, Operations and Events Manager, and Back of House Manager.  She oversaw the creation of the wholesale and events services within the bakery while creating the training and staff development program from the ground up. In this role, Gallas developed a passion for operational excellence and efficiency that she has carried with her into her current role at the CPT. She also honed her skills as a communicator, mentor and problem solver.

Gallas’ work in three different countries and across a wide scope of industries has profoundly impacted the way she works and sees the world.  Having friends across cultures, continents and languages has widened her scope and solidified her belief that it is the differences between us that make us stronger.

Gallas is a native of Nashville who received her dual degree in Philosophy and French from Samford University in 2016.  While at Samford University, she was a member of the University Fellows Honors Program, an ambassador for the Howard College of Arts and Science, and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity.

In her free time, you will find her either in the garden or in the kitchen where she has a passion not only for growing vegetables, but also pickling them.
