Tammy Velasquez

Tammy is the Director, State Legislative & Regulatory Affairs, Office of Public Policy for EY, a leading global professional services organization that provides assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services. In this role, Tammy represents the firm at The Accountants Coalition (TAC) which focuses on managing state public policy issues on behalf of the profession and the global firms. In this capacity, Tammy handles multiple state policy initiatives, participates in national state based political and policy groups in order to monitor impacts to the firm in state public policy.

Tammy brings almost 30 years of federal, state and local public policy experience to her role. She started her career with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and served in roles addressing public policy efforts before national legislative and regulatory groups, including state legislatures, profession oversight boards and national trade associations within the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents, the Louisiana Department of Justice, the Alliance of American Insurers, the D.C. Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation, the American Insurance Association and Grant Thornton, where Tammy served as managing director of State Government Relations. Across these roles, Tammy worked closely with federal, state and local authorities and private sector representatives to formulate strategic policy initiatives.

Tammy is involved in several state and local policy initiatives, including serving as a board member of the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA) and as a member of the Uniform Accountancy Act Committee for the AICPA. She interacts regularly with the business community, investors, regulators and other policy makers.
