Ruben Davila, CPA, CFF, Esq.
Ruben Davila, CPA, CFF, Esq. is a Professor at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Marshall School of Business and Leventhal School of Accounting. He has developed and taught a wide range of accounting, finance, and business courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. This includes leading USC Marshall international experiential courses with d consulting projects presentations for companies in China, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, and Cuba.
Professor Davila has given back to his professional by serving on several influential boards and committees of California Board of Accountancy (CBA), CalCPA, NASBA, and the AICPA. Davila currently serves as immediate past-Chair of CalCPA’s Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees. A former CBA board member, he worked with CalCPA and the CBA to help revise and update current education requirements for CPA licensure that will take effect in January 2027. He chaired NASBA’s Examinations Review Board and has served terms on numerous influential boards and committees for both NASBA and the AICPA including the Board of Examiners, chaired the Examination Review Board, IQAB, and the Education Committee.
Professor Davila is an active leader in university and corporate governance. He was elected to an officer’s position and the Executive Board of USC’s Academic Senate. He was also an elected officer of the PAC 12 Academic Leadership Coalition. He currently serves on the board of directors for an award-winning entertainment firm and an investment firm.
Passionate about giving back to his community, Professor Davila has developed impactful community outreach and pipeline programs over the past three decades. He creates well-attended events that partner USC with professional organizations such as CalCPA, ALPFA, and the California Board of Accountancy. These programs connect high school and community college students with current university students and successful young professionals, exposing them to careers in accountancy and financial services. It educates them about the possibilities of attending college, how to navigate and finance the process, how to achieve academic success and how to position yourself for a successful professional career.
Professor Davila has also developed a successful litigation consulting practice, providing litigation and forensic support. He has served as an expert witness in several high-profile, complex business lawsuits.
Davila holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola Marymount University, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School. He is a licensed California CPA and attorney. Mr. Davila co-starred in the 2021 Oscar-nominated short film “Please Hold.” He is a proud father of three amazing talented young women. He and his wife Amber, live in Sierra Madre, California while two of their daughters are currently attending college.
