John Lovell, Jr & John Lovell, III | 2006-2007

John C. Lovell Jr. CPA and John C. Lovell III, CPA, of New Orleans, as two of the first individuals to be honored with the NASBA CPT Being a Difference Award. John C. Lovell, Jr., started the CPA firm of Lovell & Co. in 1975. His son, John C. Lovell, III is a member of the firm.

John C. Lovell Jr., is the president of Delta Olympic Sailing Association, past president of the New Orleans Opera Association, and treasurer of the Southern Regional Opera Endowment Fund. He is a long time member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council. He is also a member of Southern Yacht Club, where he competed in the Star Boat Class for many years and participated in the U.S. Sailing Olympic Trials in 1984. He was active for many years at Southern Yacht Club in youth sailing, where he was coach and mentor to children in competitive racing. He is married to an attorney, Virginia F. Lovell, and they are the parents of three children, all of whom reside in New Orleans.

John C. Lovell III, graduated from Isadore Newman High School in New Orleans. In 1991 he received a BA degree from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where he was a four-time All American in College Sailing. He is a member of Southern Yacht Club, Houston Yacht Club and the United States Sailing Association where he serves as the Audit Committee Chairman. He has been on the U.S. Olympic Team three times in the sport of sailing — Georgia in 1996, Australia in 2000, and Greece in 2004 where he earned the Silver Medal. He is currently campaigning to sail in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. He is married to Katherine Pilley Lovell, also an accomplished sailor and a former member of the United States Sailing team. They reside in New Orleans and are the parents of John Nicholson.
