MURFREESBORO – The 10th annual JPJ Foundation Banquet is set for 7 p.m. April 2 at the Doubletree Hotel.

The JPJ Foundation will issue scholarships to deserving minority Murfreesboro high school seniors on their way to college. One of the scholarships is the distinguished Byron M. Motley Memorial Scholarship to MTSU.

This year Murfreesboro’s own Alfonzo Alexander will be the speaker on this anniversary occasion. Alfonzo is the chief relationship officer of National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and president of NASBA’s Center for the Public Trust. He oversees the leadership development and employee engagement activities for the organization, while facilitating a number of special projects working with the CEO.

Under his leadership, the CPT has established new partnerships and built programs on nearly 40 colleges and universities across the United States, established an Ethical Leadership Certification Program, and grown its Being a Difference Award Program extensively.

Alexander is also a popular speaker on college campuses and corporate training rooms across the country. He delivers powerful messages on leadership, strategy, business development and career growth.

After graduating from Riverdale High School, Alexander earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis on human resources management from Tennessee Technological University. He also earned a master of business administration degree from Lipscomb University.

In addition to the speaker, guests will be feted with dinner and live music. The JPJ Foundation will also present the annual JPJ Distinguished Pioneer Award to this year’s recipient, Councilwoman Madelyn Scales. Scales will be recognized for her years of dedication to Murfreesboro’s youth and for her work representing the people of Murfreesboro.

Tickets are on sale for $30 and can be reserved by contacting Hattie Motley at 615-893-3986. All proceeds will benefit the JPJ Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

The JPJ Foundation of Murfreesboro was founded in 2001 to benefit local youth. The basis of the foundation is to assist graduating minority students with funds to attend college. For more details about the event, visit jpjfoundation.com.
